PAOLO AMBROSIO
Born 1945, living and working in Torino Italy. He studied Architecture.

"Since 1960 my work grew freely through a research which conglobates the experience and the constant verification with the public, developed by following phases, open to a further verificability".

First one man show: Kunstkabinett am Steintor, Hannover 1971.
Latest: Gallery Fumagalli, Bergamo 1991.

The topographies are combinations of mutable, temporary situations, which reflect reality. The work gets therefore "open" and circumstantial.

In these twenty years his exibition-activity was wide. Amongs the other shows: Termoli Prize 1976-1978, Mail Art Show, Los Angeles 1979, Salon de Nations Paris 1982; International Drawing Cleveland 1983, International Show Black Humor Torino 1989-1990; Borderline Firenze 1988., Gallery Helga Wicher Wuppertal Deutschland 1993. In the same period he presented his works in fourteen one man shows, among the others: Gallery Lo Sguardo Torino presented by Aldo Passoni; 1975 Campobase Torino presented by Lucio Cabutti; 1977 Gallery Il Mercante Milan; 1979 Gallery Matuzia Sanremo; 1986 Il Brandale Savona; 1988 Exibition

in the public postig-spaces of Torino and Milan; 1986-1988 Gallery Fluxia Chiavari; 1981 Encounter at the Caffè Platti Torino.
He has going on also with a multimedial research by a different, new use of the materials in painting, sculture and books-objects. This research finds its documentation in the edition of following.AUTHOR-BOOKS: 1975 Sign Functions; 1979 Speech to Critics, Poets, Lovers Passerbys; 1982 Xenia: Fragments of a paintig speech; 1986 About the alchemy research; 1991 The ineffable sense of the sign.

All these books were appreciated with autograph writings by: Roland Barthes, Italo Mussa, Luigi Paolo Finizio, Bruno D'Amore, Franco Torriani, Filiberto Menna, Guido Montana, Umbro Apollonio, Willy Rotzler, Harald Szeemann, Janus.

In 1992 he was marked at the Competition "Imaginaria" by the Group Rinascente.
His works are in private colletions in Germany, Spain,Turkey, Museum zu Schwelm (Germany), in Italy in: Torino, Brescia, Roma, Venezia, Palermo, Genova, Modena, Ovada, Milan, Padova, Sanremo.

He published many BOOKS-WORK and presented them at the Book Fair in Torino in 1989, 1992, 1994. The latest is ARCHITECTURAL BOOK, presented at International Art Fair in Bologna 1993-1995, Diplo Firenze 1993, Art Jonction Cannes 1994, L'Art a la Page Cagnes sur Mer 1995, Genovantacinque Luglio 1995.
The Architectural Book is in the collection of the Bibliotheque Nationale de France.
